In 1909 Sister Rose and Sister Pascal set up a school in St Patrick’s Church. This was called a church-school, which meant the children had to take the school desks out on Friday afternoon so the Church could be used for Mass on Sundays, and then they had to turn the Church back into a classroom on Monday.

Soon there were so many children that the Parish decided to build a proper school, and the new St Patrick’s School was opened in 1925. By 1984, these buildings needed to be demolished and a new school building was opened.
